Physical Therapist

Sara Dansbury, PT, DPT

Sara received her bachelors of science degree in Individualized Studies of Pre-Physical Therapy with a minor in Biology from Elmira College in New York state. She immediately went on to earn her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from The CUNY Graduate Center at Hunter College in NYC.

Growing up, Sara was always interested in the medical field- she dreamed of becoming a pediatrician. While in her freshman year of college, her grandmother was in a car accident and was receiving physical therapy. Sara took her grandmother to PT one day and the clinic had a pediatric treatment room in addition to an adult gym. Sara was hooked on pediatric PT from that point on! And who could blame her? The idea of playing with a child for an hour to help them learn a skill which would enable them to participate in their everyday life a little easier or more completely is truly an amazing job!

While she was earning her doctorate, she had the wonderful opportunity to complete one of her affiliations at Blythedale Children's Hospital in Valhalla, NY to focus her clinical skills on the pediatric population.

Sara loves working with children and their families to improve mobility around their home and community so they are better able to learn and develop life skills through play and interacting with their environment.

Sara is a published journal author, pairing together with 2 of her doctoral classmates and the William Randolph Hearst Burn Center at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center staff on researching The Utilization of Nintendo® Wii™ During Post-Burn Rehabilitation: A Pilot Study. She enjoys incorporating games of all types to achieve the individual's goals for physical therapy.

Sara is the owner of Axis Therapy, LLC.
